Can I get this Dell/Intel combo to display higher resolution?

Post by Cliff_G »

So far delighted with my Linux Mint re-install. This is on an old Dell D610 (2005 or so) so I went for the oldest currently supported Mint, Qiana with Mate. Have also tried a few other distros - Lubuntu, Xubuntu and Q4OS but they all had problems of one sort or another, but also all shared the same issue with screen resolution:

This screen is capable of some big resolutions, which is why I bought the machine originally, and was running these fine under WinXP (at least 1280*something and possibly up to 1600*1200, I forget) but all the Linux's have been limited to 1024*768 on this machine. Looking around the forum here I am not sure I will do any better with LM, but thought I would ask anyway.

The driver manager says "No proprietary drivers are in use"

$ inxi -Fxz output:

I'm a fairly newbie Linux user so won't be up to anything to fancy, but not afraid of the odd Terminal session

Hoping & thanks in advance
