intel graphics driver for mint 18.2 HDMI won't work

Post by rossdem699 »

Hello, i am running mint 18.2 and i can't get the HDMI to work on my acer 5335.
I have tried the following - install Intel Linux Graphics Drivers Installer, i get a dependency error - libpackagekit-glib2-18.
The VGA output works fine.
Any ideas why the HDMI wont work?

I thought it may have to do with modifying the 'sudo xed /etc/lsb-release' file as follows -

Code: Select all

#DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
#DISTRIB_RELEASE=18.2
#DISTRIB_CODENAME=sonya
#DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya"

DISTRIB_CODENAME=xenial
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 16.04 LTS"

I managed to get the 'intel graphics tool' to work by using an earlier version pointing toward Ubuntu build as apposed to LM build and with the 'sudo xed /etc/lsb-release' file edit as per above. I ran the tool and it updated but still no HDMI. Is there some hardware tests i can do to confirm or what i have already done has proven that it is working according to the operating system?

Turns out i had a faulty HDMI port. Proved it using another laptop of same type and configuration.
