desktop freezes when hot-plugging external VGA monitor

Post by jay_otto »

Hi all
I used to be able to hot-plug external VGA monitors to my HP envy m6 with Mint 13.2 and it worked just fine. That is, up until now. After upgrading to Mint 13.3, the desktop becomes unresponsive when plugging the monitor in. The mouse-pointer works and certain desktop elements are highlighted but otherwise, it's dead. Even <ctrl> <f1> doesn't work anymore, which might at least give me the chance to have a controlled system shut-down or do some investigation. Any help will be appreciated.

Mint 13 has reached end of support.Best to install either ver 17.3 or preferably 18.3 . Both are LTS and are supported for 5 years from their intro dates.
Hopefully your problem will be solved with these distros.
