TLDR: I was running 18.3 xcfe which worked fine with 4 GPUs. I recently got a new case and decided to build a normal comp and upgrade to 18.3 KDE since I absolutely love this distro and it works great on a laptop I have. My goal was to bridge the Nvidia cards so I can have a nice gaming rig
Processor: Intel i5 6500 3.20
Graphics: 2 Nvidia 1070 GPUs (it recognizes the first slot but not the third slot where the second GPU sits)
Driver Version: 384
Mobo: MSI Z170A
Power supply: 1000W
Problem: mobo doesn't recognize there is a second GPU even though it's powered and all the cables are connected.
Things I've tried:
- Uninstall/reinstall CUDA 9.1 using an older kernel (I was having separate issues with kernel 4.13 but not 4.10)
Swapping GPUs from the 1st and third slot to see if it's the GPUs, all GPUs are recognized in the first position and work but are not recognized in the third position
Rechecking the cables and using different PCI-E power cables from the power supply (I know this is good because it was powering 4 other GPUs previously)
Tried a different mobo and the same issue repeats itself the same way
Tried using 384 and 387 drivers
Any thoughts or other things I should try?
Thank you in advance!
