First, let's get a look at your system. Open a terminal and run the following command. If you type, the letter F is a capital.
Paste the output back here between Code tags.
Code: Select all
inxi -Fxz

Re: Problem: display flickering with intel graphics 620 uhd HELP!
I have other monitor, AOC 2K, and with this no problem either, only I have problems with the display of the laptop and in Linux only (I've tried with Ubuntu 17 too and the same problem). With the maximum level of brightness I don't have any problem with the display.... It's too strange...

Re: Problem: display flickering with intel graphics 620 uhd HELP!
Is the external monitor using HDMI or something else? And have you disconnected the external monitor but the problem persists? What is the screen resolution of the external monitor? I did some google-fu and I see a max resolution of 2560 x 1440 Quad HD for the AOC 2K. Make sure the external monitor is set to the same resolution and refresh rate as the laptop's built-in monitor.
Re: Problem: display flickering with intel graphics 620 uhd HELP!
With the 2K AOC monitor, 2560 x 1440, all right. Only the laptop screen fails me, 1920x1080 FHD. I have, presumably, the right drivers for the graph. With the brightness to the maximum, the screen of the laptop does not give me problems either, and in windows either. It only gives me problems, blinks, the laptop screen with its normal resolution, 1920x1080 FHD, with the brightness when it is not at maximum and in Linux Mint 18.3 ... What can I do? The laptop monitor always fails. When I use the two monitors and when I use only the laptop monitor, but only fails in Linux, Ubuntu and Mint, in windows all right.CaptainKirksChair wrote: ⤴Mon Feb 19, 2018 12:12 pmWhen you say "Only the laptop screen fails me" does that mean that the external monitor is NOT in use when the problem happens?

Re: Problem: display flickering with intel graphics 620 uhd HELP!
According to this article on AskUbuntu, there is a known bug in Xorg 1.18 and the Intel drivers. Most of the answers are about a year and a half old and speak of a different model, but sound relevant in your case. Your installed version of Xorg matches and it's possible that you are experiencing the bug. There is a report about maximized windows having the problem but non-maximized windows are okay. You can try that too. Why it works with an external monitor is not known to me unless a different driver is somehow in use. I can't say the fix in that article will work in your case and if you do want to try it, make sure EVERYTHING is backed up before you do. You can also try a different kernel if you like.
