GLX suddenly non-functional

Post by mr_honeydo » Wed Mar 07, 2018 11:09 pm

Within the last two days, and I have no idea why, suddenly all programs which use glx have become non-functional.
glxgears gives me a:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

inxi -Fxz gets:

After this began, I used Device manager to update my nvidia driver to 390. And it says it's installed, though inxi says it isn't.

Starting kodi for instance gives me:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/kodi/kodi-xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Not sure where I should go from here. I'll note that I've been using Mint 17 for years with no problems, but I don't know what may have changed, or how to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
