How to get mint to recognize the display correctly?

Post by gaikokujinkyofusho »

I installed mint and it seems to work fine with one exception. It identified my 55" sony TV (HTPC) as a 37" sony. Normally I wouldn't care except I can't set 1920x1080 rez without it displaying beyond the TV (sorry for my english, not exactly sure how to say it, when I put full screen I can't see the menu bar and parts of the application windows. The TV does not allow changing v/h hold so I can't do that. I tried playing with xrandr but I am not totally sure how to use it so no lucky. For what its worth its connected to my little intel nuc by HDMI. Please help!!
