Display does not wake after turning it off

Post by gmag11 »

Hi,

I've just installed Linux Mint 18.3 on an Intel NUC6i3SYK.

Everything works fine but Display. It does not wake if I turn off monitor off and on or I change to a different display input. The only way to recover display is suspend or logoff.

I've tried several 4.10, 4.13 and 4.15 kernels with similar results.

Is there any other task I can do to diagnose this?

I add some diag information

I've been investigating about this. I guess that my display resolution is the reason of the issue. I use 2560x1440.

I've confirmed this happen in different Debian derived distributions. Indeed just now I'm not using Mint but Ubuntu 18.04 with Kernel 4.15.0-20. KDE Neon did the same.

On /var/log/syslog I see the lines

Code: Select all

and

May anybody help me to find what is wrong here?

You can find complete syslog that belongs to display switch off (line 1) and display switch on (line 511) https://pastebin.com/CLRWNHsC

Finally I gave up using DiplayPort and switched to HDMI. Now display works fine. I've seen some old reports referring this behabiour using DiplayPort with Intel GPUs, but they stated to be solved on 3.x kernels.
