Problems setting monitor refresh rate to 144hz

Post by lukeh10 »

I'm Having trouble setting my monitor's refresh rate to 144.00 with xrandr.

I am able to set it to 120hz but when I try 144hz my monitor goes black and says "out of range".
I dual boot windows and 144hz works on there. I don't know if this is a driver issue or what.

Here is my system info:

Code: Select all

System: Host: luke-MS-7917 Kernel: 4.10.0-38-generic x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 5.4.0)
           Desktop: Cinnamon 3.6.7 (Gtk 3.18.9-1ubuntu3.3)
           Distro: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia

GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 18.0.0-rc4 Direct Rendering: Yes
xrandr gives:

Code: Select all

DisplayPort-0 connected primary 2560x1440+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 598mm x 336mm
   2560x1440 59.95 + 144.00 120.00* 99.95 84.98 23.97

HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DVI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DVI-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
I've tried xrandr --output DisplayPort-0 --mode 2560x1440 --rate 144.00
and searched the internet for help, but nothing seems to work. I would appreciate any help.

Use this command and post the output: xrandr --verbose

What is the brand and model number of the monitor?
