Black screen after rebooting

Post by Thinkmint » Mon Jun 18, 2018 7:51 am

Hello,

I installed KDE 64-bit, updated everything with the "Just keep my computer safe" update policy then installed some programs and configured things the way I like them. Everything was running smoothly up until I rebooted, then after the mint splash screen I was left with a black screen. I'm guessing this has something to do with graphics. I've since reinstalled mint and even rebooted things seem okay. However, I'm worried I'll run into the same problem again soon. If somebody could help me make sure it doesn't happen again I'd really appreciate it.

What programs? Were they from the repos or did you use ppas or similar? SOmetimes the software from ppas etc will replace things they shouldn't, and users don't look at the warnings.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install apt-fast

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linrunner/tlp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install tlp tlp-rdw
sudo tlp start

sudo apt-get install preload
sudo apt-get install indicator-cpufreq
