GLX Renderer: AMD Radeon RX 460 Graphics- tells me gpu graphics working
you first -F under open source drivers.----"GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on AMD POLARIS11"
did you disable your intel chip graphics in the BIOS?

No did not know that was a thing? New to turn off the "UEFI secure boot" crap.

I know how to get to the BIOS, any clue where the "disable your intel chip" setting might be in there? Let me reboot and look in the BIOS to see if I can find it, had to go to "exit" tab and disable the THIRD hidden "optimize for windows" to kill secure boot.

It should be labeled integrated graphics or onboard graphics. Some terminology as such.

Ok under BIOS>devices>

VIDEO: turned off "auto" to be "PEG" (pci what not only). there was an "IG?" forget what the third letter was but talked about that option would not be there is the cpu did not support integrated graphics...

AUDIO: turned off onboard

so the only card for sound and vid is the RX460: but the sound side of it is still pointed to a "snd_hda_intel" driver? Pretty sure that is the problem, but not sure what to do?

Here is my audio

Code: Select all

Card-1 Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH Azalia Controller
           driver: snd_hda_intel
Card-2 Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] Kaveri HDMI/DP Audio Controller
           driver: snd_hda_intel
Card-3 NVIDIA GP106 High Def. Audio Controller
           driver: snd_hda_intel
Sound: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture v: k4.15.0-24-generic

snd_hda_intel is normal.

OK another thread led me here
https://github.com/M-Bab/linux-kernel-amdgpu-binaries

it is off repo, but upgrading the kernel to that one fixed sound.
