Tara install on Dell Optiplex 990 - Graphics Issues Intel

Post by reiley411 »

Hello,

I cannot get Linux to boot from DVD or after install unless I use either High Compatibility mode - DVD or I use "nomodeset" in the advanced startup options after install. If I reg boot I just get a flannel pattern (for lack of a better term) across the whole screen. The machine has Intel HD Graphics 2000 onboard graphics.

Can anyone help with getting the right driver installed so it will run?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi, @reiley411

If the nomodeset option makes the machine boot properly then you need to add nomodeset permanently. See @Pyotr's site here: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... ruboptions

Cheers.

Thanks I'll give that a try. From the warning you get under this setting it looks like you are losing alot, but from your link looks like just the startup is affected.
