[SOLVED] No Intel Graphics Driver with Mint 19

Post by JerryF »

Hello all,

Eventually, looking to do a fresh install to go from 18.3 to 19.

I can run a live USB of 19 but I notice that the graphics driver is set as modesetting instead of intel.

Here are the inxi results from 18.3 (installed):

What do I do to get an intel driver when I install 19?

Thank you.

modesetting is the best driver for your chip, there's nothing to change.

I have 2 3 and 5 year old Intel i5 and i7 laptops with LM19 Cinnamon 64-bit and Intel GPUs, which work fine doing a clean install.
Both of those PCs are using the "modesetting" driver and all is well.
