Linux Mint 19 support 4K / UHD

Post by KVikLine »

Hello Linux community,
Which 4K rsp. UHD monitors are supported by Mint 19?
Does Mint 19 support 4K / UHD (3,840 x 2,160) monitors at all?
If yes, which?
I'm interested e.g. in a FUJITSU display P27-8 TS UHD.
Thank you

I am currently using Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon. I have tried running a single 4K monitor connected to a Nividia GTX 1080 graphics card. I can tell you I got good performance...as far as the display itself. However I had experienced unacceptable mouse input lag as well as unacceptable input lag on my Wacom Introus tablet. I have tested out other Ubuntu based distros and Linux Mint MATE via live disks and still got the same results. Finally I had to settled for 3 1080p monitors hooked up to my 1080 graphics card to get something that works and still have enough screen real estate to spread out my work flow. Also while I'm at it. I found out that Linux Mint 19 just does not like running multiple graphics cards.

Though, 4k monitor setups and multiple graphics cards setups do seem possible to implement in LInux. I've seen YouTube videos of such such setups in action. But given my newb-ness here in the world of Linux (Im a fresh convert from Micro-Shaft Wind-Blows), I don't have the high end Linux-fu to implement either solution as of yet.
