Mint 19 not using nvidia driver that works [SOLVED]

Post by dudesplace »

Ok quick run down.
The machine in question has had Mint 17, and 18.3 Cinnamon installed with same hardware and used driver from install package and worked.
Had good resolution and could play video fairly well. I may have had to add some lib's for Boinc to find GPU's to use.
With Mint 19 installed I have yet to get a boinc project to recognize a GPU, I have good resolution no tearing but somewhat laggy video.
Current driver says it is using manually installed driver.

inxi -G
Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GF106 [GeForce GTS 450]
Display Server: x11 (X.Org 1.19.6 )
drivers: nouveau (unloaded: modesetting,fbdev,vesa)
Resolution: 1600x900@60.00hz
OpenGL: renderer: NVC3 version: 4.3 Mesa 18.0.5

Here is paste of PC lshw.

I've followed several posts and suggestions, had to reinstall it got so messed up, used the PPA manual add driver on Mint 18, but this was best solution so far, but still not convinced that it won't run with GPU on Boinc projects, as it did with Mint 17 & 18.
I have scoured the BOINC and LM forums, and tried all 3 drivers listed here.

Thanks for any help!

I had a similar problem. Disabling Secure Boot in BIOS solved it.
Same Driver Manager display.
