Not detecting internal laptop monitor

Post by tcratius » Mon Aug 26, 2019 12:30 am

Recently, I have tried to install cuda-toolkit on:

x86_64
DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
DISTRIB_RELEASE=19.2
DISTRIB_CODENAME=tina
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 19.2 Tina"
NAME="Linux Mint"
VERSION="19.2 (Tina)"
ID=linuxmint
ID_LIKE=ubuntu
PRETTY_NAME="Linux Mint 19.2"
VERSION_ID="19.2"
HOME_URL="https://www.linuxmint.com/"
SUPPORT_URL="https://forums.ubuntu.com/"
BUG_REPORT_URL="http://linuxmint-troubleshooting-guide. ... en/latest/"
PRIVACY_POLICY_URL="https://www.linuxmint.com/"
VERSION_CODENAME=tina
UBUNTU_CODENAME=bionic
cat: /etc/upstream-release: Is a directory

During the installation process, https://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/cuda-insta ... ml#runfile, the documents asked to Disable the Nouveau drivers and set runlevel to 3. I have since installed cuda via pkgs manager instead of the .run file, however, even after setting the runlevel to 5 graphical-interface
and ensuring that the Nouveau driver is not blacklisted, I am unable to detect the laptop screen, yet can detect the HDMI monitor connected to the NVIDIA card in the laptop. I have tried going to "diplay" and auto detecting monitor displays with no success. Help in solving this problem would be appreciated.
