nvidia - HDMI not working

Post by alequa » Mon Aug 26, 2019 7:00 am

Im trying to plug in external monitour to my laptop through hdmi. It works very fine on windows but when I switch to linux the monitor is getting no signal. I have almost fresh instalation of linux mint 19.2 with nvidia drivers recommended from driver manager. Im not sure if my GPU is even working (it says drivers are N/A), maybe only integrated CPU works, but on windows everything is fine.
Can you give me some help?

Code: Select all

ls /sys/class/drm

I dont use any adapter, the HDMI is just directly from nvidia GPU I guess.

Use these commands and post the output:

Code: Select all

1. lspci -nnk | egrep -A3 -i "3D|VGA"
2. ls /lib/modprobe.d
3. dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia
4. mokutil --sb-state

Probably the nvidia gpu is not even working right now, Im also surprised I do not see much configuration options in Nvidia X Server Settings, there is only Application Profiles and nvidia-settings Configuration with few checkboxes.

Your system has Secure Boot enabled. This prevents the Nvidia driver from loading. Either disable Secure Boot in the BIOS, or if you want it enabled for an added layer of security, then the Nvidia kernel modules that were built during the Nvidia driver installation will need to be signed. Many distributions require modules to be signed with a trusted key when loaded into kernels running on UEFI systems with Secure Boot enabled.

For the instructions on how to do this, go down to the section:
How to install the Nvidia driver with Secure Boot enabled; for drivers installed using Driver Manager, apt or Synaptic in this post:
