Dual 4k monitor not supported on Intel UHD 630?

Post by everwisher » Sun Sep 01, 2019 12:10 am

I'm running my server with an Intel i9-9900T which contains an Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics unit and is seated on a Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 mobo.

According to the specs from Intel, UHD 630 is able to support as many as triple 4k monitor (though the frame rate is unsure). My mobo has a DP1.2 port which supports one of my 4k monitor with no problem in Linux Mint Tina. However, when I connected the machine to another 4k monitor via HDMI (the version of the onboard port is not announced by Gigabyte but can be speculated as 1.4 according to the maximal specs of 4096×2160@30Hz), the monitor showed unsupported info and was unable to display anything but black screen unless I set the resolution to 1920×1080@60Hz.

Since I haven't install Windows 10 natively, I'm unsure if this is a bug of Linux Mint / Intel UHD driver for Linux / mobo port capabilities. Any plz help?
