Rotate touch input with screen (or disable touch completely)

Post by IDontWantW10 »

Hello,

I just installed mint and the screen orientation was portrait. I changed it in DE with settings and I changed it in lightdm with adding

Code: Select all

[SeatDefaults]
display-setup-script=xrandr -o right
to /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/70-linuxmint.conf

now Both DE and Login screen are in landscape mode, there's a problem though: touch input is still in portrait mode.
How can I rotate it? It would be awesome if it would rotate with screen rotation.

I've looked through the web, but I didn't try nothing because I think that what my pc considers the "normal" orientation is "portrait" (rotated to left) so I'm scared that executing the tips I find in the internet may ruin all my system.

Do you guys know how could I rotate touch input so that it aligns with screen rotation?
If you guys don't know, or it is not possible, could you please tell me how to totally disable touch screen? I'd rather not have than have it not working properly

I'll now provide my inxi

Code: Select all

Others have indicated the screen orientation changes as they rotate it and I thought touch did as well.

In the Displays app, there is the option in Layout to rotate the screen. Is that what you did? I would have thought that would have changed the touch orientation, but maybe it does not on your particular hardware or maybe you changed the orientation some other way.

Also in the Displays app is Settings which gives an option to automatically disable screen rotation.

Disabling touch may be an option in the BIOS/UEFI.

What you are refearing to is the screen orientation of the DE. In that case I used the gui tool you mentioned.

With the command I was refearing to lightdm, the login screen (display manager should be called maybe?)

No option in bios, but I'd try to make it work first and use the disable as the last resource

Touch can be accomplished with a variety of hardware so it's sometimes a challenge to know what to check. You can run xinput to see what drivers may be running it.

You are running Cinnamon so you have the Graphics Tablet app installed. Check to see if there is an option on it which might help.

Moderator note: RedFaster's issue can now be found here Rotate touch input with screen orientation because the hardware is not the same.
