[SOLVED] NVidia graphics card no longer users hardware acceleration after updating

Post by TheCorsair »

Hello All,

After updating my system to use 465 version of the nvidia drivers I get a message saying my system is not using hardware acceleration. I tried reinstalling the drivers but same issue. Here is the results I get when I try to start nvidia-settings:

If you Clt-Alt-Backspace to restart the X Server and that fixes the issue, then use the fix in this thread [SOLVED] NVIDIA driver failing sometimes on boot ("no hardware acceleration") for a more permanent solution. Let us know if the fix roblm recommends in the second post addresses the issue for you.

It's my understanding the Nvidia-465 is not a long-term-release driver, so it's possible there might be issues with it. If restarting the X Server does not work, I suggest using the Nvidia-460.
