IrisXe-Graphics Driver for Linux Mint 20.02

Post by Stannat »

Hello,

I'm changing from Windows to Linux and chose Mint to make the change easy for myself.
Now my problem is, that Linux Mint did not install the graphics driver.

I'm using a NUC attached to a 4K Monitor via HDMI. I Get the note, that not all driver could be installed. Actual the Graphic lacks and I don't have any Sound.
On my Notebooks it worked all very well but on The NUC it doesn't.
I tried some hints searching by Google but nothing helped me.

I hope somebody can help me. And if possible please Explanation for dummies. Working with the terminal is something complete new for me.
Thank you for any Idea and sorry for my English but I'm a native German speaker.

To the Details of the Setting:

The NUC Kit is: https://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/ ... tions.html

Welcome to the forum, Stannat.

The data you posted indicates the kernel did install the graphics driver.
Graphics:
Device-1: Intel driver: i915 v: kernel bus ID: 00:02.0 chip ID: 8086:9a49
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.9 driver: modesetting unloaded: fbdev,vesa

direct render: Yes

I do not know what this might be. Can you provide a printout of the message or take a photograph of the message?
Stannat wrote: Thu Jul 29, 2021 5:07 pmActual the Graphic lacks
Can you provide more specifics of the actual problem? The graphics driver is loaded and the data shows you using a monitor with resolution: 3840x2160~60Hz.
Stannat wrote: Thu Jul 29, 2021 5:07 pmand I don't have any Sound.
The Release Notes for Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon has a section "Sound and microphone issues" which indicates to install "pavucontrol".

I do not normally help with sound issues. There is a separate forum area for sound problems. Maybe something there will help you.

The data you posted indicates the snd_hda_intel driver is being used for sound.
Audio:
Device-1: Intel driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus ID: 00:1f.3

Device-2: Logitech OrbiCam type: USB driver: snd-usb-audio,uvcvideo

Hi,

my problem is solved.

I had to install another Kernel and change some Display-Settings so the PC recognized the HDMI Port correctly. Now the Monitor has a sensefull name and the graphic works smoothly. Moreover the Audio output works now as well.
Step by step everything ist fiunctioning.

However, thank you for Your time and Inputs. If I hadnt found the sollution, I would have followed your steps by sending you the requested Data.

In other Forums people react directly with "how stupid", "it dosen´t make sense", "do it different as you want because it´s better"...

For the benefit of those who will read this thread, what kernel did you install?

Also, if your problem is solved, please go to your first post in this thread, click the pencil icon, and add [SOLVED] to the title so others know you are no longer seeking help on this issue.
