rx5500xt driver support

Hello guys
I have this GPU and I attempt to install amgpu-pro and also installing ROCM I did it, but OpenCL oriented apps such as Blender and all mining softwares does not detect my GPU, and basically I can not do anything with my GPU it is useless. do you have any solution for it?

If you had checked to see if your card was on the amdgpu-pro support list, you would have discovered that it is unsupported.

no it is not on the list but isnt this list old?
i saw a pinned topic here witch said 5xx series are supported but 5xx is not on the list you sent
and it said for ubuntu 16

Radeon RX 550/560/570/580/590 are all supported, ie 5xx.

RX 5500 XT is not 5xx.

The driver situation with AMD cards is woeful. The only thing you can do is drop back to the open source driver.

how about nvidia do they have good suppport for driver and are they work as great as they work in MS windows?

It can be a matter of opinion for some people, but yes, they work as well in Linux as they do in Windows. I was going to tell you that I recently bought a 5500 XT because some Linux people were recommending them but decided against mentioning it, but since you ask... Big mistake on my part. I couldn't sell it, and ended up giving it away. All my systems now use nVidia cards. The problem with AMD is the state of the open source driver. It offers no control over power or features so you have to revert to arcane hacks and hope they work. I won't go near one again for a long time.

That's my opinion, however if the card is performing ok using the open source driver then there is no reason to change it out.

I found this yesterday, but I'd been 'partying' and don't post until I've recovered.

From this post https://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum/l ... inux-5-4-7 the 5.5 kernel seems to make it work.

If you're using 5.4 or earlier, it might be worth installing the 5.11 kernel through Update Manager.
