Hi,
I'm using sketchup 2018 via wine on one hand :
-nvidia open source "xserver-xorg-video-nouveau" driver version 1:1.0.16-1 : All good
-nvidia-driver 470 version 470.63.01-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 : one clic delay to everything i do. ( )
And The long dark (video game on steam) on the other hand :
-nvidia open source "xserver-xorg-video-nouveau" driver version 1:1.0.16-1 : masssssssive lag
-nvidia-driver 470 version 470.63.01-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 : All good
Suddenly occurred to me that somebody with the magical power to combine the best of these two drivers would bring peace back to our little village in the Alps...
More seriously, i've seen that i can configure easily the proprietary driver, but haven't found a way for the open-source one. i've heard that the "native resolution" or an "autoscale" thingy could be the reason but i can't find this setting.
Thanks in advance !

Native resolution of the monitor/screen is usually a design factor and listed in its specifications.arthur_dent wrote: ⤴Sat Sep 25, 2021 7:45 amMore seriously, i've seen that i can configure easily the proprietary driver, but haven't found a way for the open-source one. i've heard that the "native resolution" or an "autoscale" thingy could be the reason but i can't find this setting.

Re: Nvidia Quadro K2200 driver : how to get best of both ?
I would start with the recommendation to update your kernel as the latest is 5.4.0-88.
System:
Kernel: 5.4.0-73-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 9.3.0
Desktop: MATE 1.24.0 info: mate-panel wm: Compiz 0.9.14.1
dm: LightDM 1.30.0 Distro: Linux Mint 20.1 Ulyssa base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal
I do not have the MATE desktop, but it might possible to see different performance with each of the graphics drivers if you make changes to the windows manager or compositor. I can not give you guidance on recommendations, but maybe someone else will be able to do so.

Re: Nvidia Quadro K2200 driver : how to get best of both ?
I did find others online with display size issues with older video drivers. Interesting was that the 400 series drivers were two years older than this 390 driver. You may also try to use the display port to the monitor instead of the DVi.
This is the latest version I could find which is currently recommended by Nvidia for Quadro K2200
Version: 390.143
Release Date: 2021.4.19
Operating System: Linux 64-bit

Actually, the Nvidia 470.74 is the latest available for the Quadro K2200.Michael_Hathaway wrote: ⤴Sun Oct 17, 2021 12:14 amThis is the latest version I could find which is currently recommended by Nvidia for Quadro K2200

arthur_dent: I believe the Nvidia-470.74 is now available in Driver Manager, so if you want to see if the slightly newer driver makes a difference, that is an option to try.
