[SOLVED] NVIDIA and poor 3D performance

Post by Droc Rewop »

I'm experiencing very poor performance on 3d games. E.g:
-Valheim, less than 1 fps.
-Day of defeat, less than 10 fps.
In Widows these running around 100 and 200 fps.

What I have tried:
-Changed Kernel from 5.4 to 5.11
-Added the Nvidia modules to the /etc/modules. So far no more random "no hardware acceleration" -messages
-Changed driver to the open source nouveau version. This actually had better performance but still unplayable.
-Changed back to nvidia 470 drivers. Same poor performance.

Any ideas what I could try next?

Edit: This might be a flatpak issue. I have installed flatpak version of steam and now after installing nvidia drivers to flatpak I got the day of defeat running smoothly. Valheim still not running. Both are OpenGL.

Edit2: I removed flatpak steam and installed the native one. Now everything works.

It could indeed be flatplak related, I have Telegram installed as a flatpak and I encountered several crashes with OpenGL rendering on. After I disabled it everything works fine.
