Radeon Pro W5500

Post by y2kfoghorn »

Hi, having issue where cinnamon crashes when I try and use google maps, I think its a webGL associated issue. Does anyone have any ideas or places I can look for more info. It works fine in Ubuntu 20.04.3LTS using kernel driver and 20.04.2 using AMD propriety PRO driver.

I have the issue with Chromium where these errors come from (also have crashes with Firefox and Brave on same site), I can get to terminal via Ctrl-Alt-F1.

Code: Select all

~$ chromium --version
Chromium 96.0.4664.45 for Linux Mint
Mint version: 20.2 but with kernel 5.13.0-22-generic or 5.13.0.21-generic from mint repo. (stock kernel did not work with both my displays)
GPU: AMD Radeon Pro W5500 - dual monitor
CPU: Intel I5 8400
Motherboard: ROG Strix H370i-gaming
RAM 16GB

Code: Select all

~$ sudo cat /etc/issue
Linux Mint 20.2 Uma \n \l

Code: Select all

~$ uname -a

Welcome to the forum, y2kfoghorn.

Please give us information about your install by entering this command in a terminal: inxi -Fxxxrz
Click </> from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply and then place your cursor between the code markers and paste the results of the command between the code markers
Results
. This will let us know how Mint sees your hardware.

Please also let us know what you mean by "stock kernel did not work with both my displays". If you meant the 5.4 kernel did not have the graphic drivers for your GPU, then that is likely because the 5.4 kernel was released before your GPU came out. New drivers are not added to older kernels.
