I just installed Mint on an old Lenovo All-in-One PC. Neofetch results are as follows;

My display settings are showing Unknown VGA-1 and the display is too big with 1024x768. How to solve this issue and have decent resolution?

Welcome to the forum, avndoffice.

The graphic drivers look properly installed on your computer. Usually, when "Unknown" comes up for a monitor that means the EDID information did not come through properly from the screen to the operating system.

What is the preferred resolution of the screen you are using? The xrandr output only picks up the actual you are using and not the preferred.
*= current resolution += preferred resolution

Code: Select all

stark@shawshank:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192
VGA-1 connected primary 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
   1024x768      60.00*
If the resolution is supposed to be 1920x1080, then you can try adding the drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=edid/1920x1080.bin kernel parameter to see if that will bring up the correct resolution.

You can use the following information How to add a kernel parameter to temporarily or permanently add the parameter. If you add it temporarily and it does not work, all you have to do is reboot for the change to be removed.
