Others have posted that happening as well. I think that may be a change from what happened in the past.
The 5.14-oem kernel has helped not only
mxr576 in this topic, but also
Houseschwei n in the topic I just referenced. The 5.14-oem kernel can be installed with
sudo apt install linux-oem-20.04d
and reboot.

I had the same issue (Lenovo Thinkbook, Ryzen 7 4700 U). 5.14-oem kernel seems to have fixed it.
Thanks!

I am having the same issue so i am posting my system info.(AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics)
I'll be trying moving to 5.14 kernel.
I noticed that while there is white noise on the display the system work, i can open terminal( of course it won't be visible ) and enter commands(shutdown 0 and the system powered off.)

I have the same issue. I resolved this by installing the TUXINVADER ppa (ppa:tuxinvader/lts-mainline) and installing the latest kernel (5.16.3 at the time of writing). This resolves the issue. As a test I tried the 5.14-oem kernel. I can confirm that this also works. Can you please add my system:

Table updated with your info.
Just as an FYI for everyone: I expect the upcoming Ubuntu 22.04 to be based on the 5.15 kernel which means that kernel will probably become available for use with Linux Mint around the April time-frame.

Good morning!
I just tried the new Kernel 5.3.0-28 and got the same issue again, so I'm back to 5.11 once more.

I encounter the exact same problem on my System:
| Lenovo Thinkpad X13 | AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U with Radeon Graphics |
When booting, pressing ESC twice before entering the disk encryption key solves the problem. However, it appears again if a second HDMI monitor is connected: the laptop display shows white noise, the external one is working.
On kernel family 5.11 this problem is not present, however, it is supported only until end of this month.
oem-5.14 works also for me.

I can confirm that also for me the update to linux-oem-20.04d kernel solved the issue.
FYI, my ThinkPad T14 AMD Gen 1 has an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U with Radeon Graphics.

No, you do not have the same problem. Your system does not have an AMD Ryzen 4000 or 5000 series CPU. It has a 2nd-gen Intel CPU.
I suggest you remove the 5.14-oem kernel. Your Sandy Bridge era CPU does not need a kernel designed for the latest hardware.
