Nvidia 1070ti low quality graphics

Post by chef x »

So fresh install of LM so it LM20. The problem is any game i load up has serious problems. At first i tried playing team fortress 2 and that was unplayable on windows I got 90+fps no problem. So I figured maybe its too much so linux and I booted up a super old game Tibia which is very limited in its resource consumption. Opening the game I found text to be nearly unreadable and the graphics were a lot different.

notice particularly the text here. Ive tried a few fixes on the forum here because the search button works better then waiting for replies but to no avail. I think its something stupid and small im overlooking,

AFAIK that card's about 5 years old so there should be a supported proprietary driver for it. Look in Driver Manager.

Welcome to the forum, chef x.

It appears all the Nvidia-510 driver files are installed.

It is possible you may be running into the common issue for which the fix in this post [SOLVED] NVIDIA driver failing sometimes on boot ("no hardware acceleration") is a solution. If you have already tried that and it did not work, please provide the output of

I did indeed try that step. I just doubled check and those lines are added to that file. Heres the output you requested and thank you for responding

This indicates the graphics drivers are installed properly.

Graphics:
Device-1: NVIDIA GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070 Ti] vendor: eVga.com.
driver: nvidia v: 510.73.05 bus ID: 01:00.0 chip ID: 10de:1b82
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.13 driver: nvidia
unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,nouveau,vesa resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 510.73.05 direct render: Yes

If there was a problem with "low quality graphics" related to the graphics driver, it would be evident in the operating system desktop and its programs.

Your description sounds like the issues are with specific programs. In those types of cases, it is usually either a setting or environment parameters which must be passed to the game/software so it works properly.

Do these games have a native linux version or are you running them on proton/steam or lutris or with WINE?
(I do not game so I am not familiar with the screenshot you posted.)
