[SOLVED] Linux mint doesn't load with two HDMI monitors connected

Post by linuxminthossein »

Hi

I have two HDMI monitors.
They work fine if I load with the first monitor connected and then connect the second monitor.
But if I connect both HDMI ports and then turn on the system, I get the following error on both monitors and the OS doesn't load further.

[0.199151] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\TBTS], AE_NOT_FOUND (20210331/psargs-330)
[0.199159] ACPI Error: Skipping While/If block (20210331/psloop-426)
[0.199169] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\TBTS], AE_NOT_FOUND (20210331/psargs-330)
[0.199173] ACPI Error: Skipping While/If block (20210331/psloop-426)

OS info:
Mint Cinnamon 20.3 64bit
Kernel: 5.13.0-51-generic

Hardware info:
Motherboard: ASUS B560M-A
CPU: Intel Core-i5 11400 + UHD Graphics 730
No graphic cards are attached, both HDMI connections are on the motherboard.

Ill let the experts chime in for any more detailed help.

but a simple thing you can try is upgrade to 5.15 kernel since support of 5.13 kernel ends in August 2022. so... "Update Manager > View > Linux Kernels". select 5.15 and install it, then reboot. see if that fairs any better.
MainPC: i5-3550 (undervolted by -0.120v (CPU runs 12c cooler) /w stock i3-2120 hs/fan) | 1050 Ti 4GB | 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RAM | Backups: AMD E-300 CPU (8GB RAM) / Athlon X2 3600+ CPU (@2.3GHz@1.35v) (4GB RAM) | All /w Mint 21.x-Xfce

Just updated the Kernel to 5.15 and the problem is solved! I couldn't believe it so I rebooted a second time and the result was the same!
Thanks a lot!

That's cool. I thought it was worth a shot given your on a 11th gen Intel CPU.

p.s. you can change the topic to "[SOLVED]" if your issue is fixed.
