[Solved] No drivers shown in driver-manager on Linux Mint Mate 21

Post by Termalator »

I just wanted to check if there are some driver updates for my Nvidia 3060TI and the driver Manager shows nothing except, that the system don't need additional drivers. It worked fine till some update in the last month. I am using Nvidia drivers 520.56.06.

If you installed the Nvidia drivers you currently have by using Driver Manager, then any updates will come through Update Manager. You do not have to check Driver Manager for updates.

The way Driver Manager works is that it has to query an external database to get the information it displays for you. Sometimes that database is down or not working properly and when that happens you will get the results you described. (Based on questions/posts I've seen on this forum, that seems to be more likely to happen on weekends.) Just try again another time and you will likely see the normal information.

I know that all, but at least the installed driver should be shown and not this:

Here linuxmint / mintdrivers is where you can create a new issue to request that to happen.

Reason: Changed c tags to code tags. It is better to use code tags for multi-line code output.

There has always been a lag between when new drivers show up on Nvidia's website and when they become available in Update Manager or Driver Manager.

Just because a driver shows up on the Nvidia website does not mean the packages have been created and made available in the Ubuntu repositories. Nvidia does not create packages for the distros. The distros must create packages for the Nvidia code.

The update came through Update Manager?

Yes, it is curious why the driver-manager started to work after a driver update, but it did.
