I haven an ASUS R751L Laptop and connected a llyama Monitor via HDMI. It only works when the Laptop is running with mint and i then plug the HDMI cabel in. As soon as i power the Laptop off or restart, i have no working Monitor. The Laptop Display stays off and also the external Monitor via HDMI. Only solution is to turn off the Laptop and unplug the HDMI and restart.
It seems the Laptop won't boot at all with the external Monitor connected. The external monitor goes dark with "no signal detected" and also the Build in Display doesn't show anything

Welcome to the forum, flieger28.
What is the model number of the monitor?
If this is the correct link Product support for X750LB: BIOS , the latest version is 212 and indicates it optimizes system performance. If you have a way of updating, that might be something to consider.
You might also want to consider installing the proprietary Nvidia-390 driver. I recommend taking a Timeshift snapshot before installing it. If you want to try it and it is not showing in Driver Manager, just let us know.

I tried the Nvidia drivers
The 390 and also a newer one.
How did you try the Nvidia drivers? I ask because there is no newer one available for your computer's GPU. The Nvidia-390 is the newest one available in the Driver Manager repository.
If this is the correct link ProLite XUB2792QSU-W1 it indicates the monitor runs at 2560 x 1440 @60Hz for HDMI. (It has DVI, HDMI, and DP connections.) I'm just noting this here for reference in case we need it later.

Mint presented me two drivers and i choose the .470

That is not Driver Manager. One selects their graphics drivers using Driver Manager.
That is Update Manager and those are flatpak runtimes and not Nvidia drivers.
I know it is possible to force the installation of a newer Nvidia driver on an older GPU. I've helped people who have done that and found out their system will not work properly when they do that. Nvidia drivers are designed to work on specific GPUs. They will not work on all GPUs no matter how much you try to force them to do so.

The strange thing is that both monitors (laptop internal) and external work perfect once Mint is running.
With the external monitor plugged into the HDMI the Laptop does not even boot.

Actually, the strange thing is you are not having more problems than you are. You are using the wrong driver for your Nvidia GPU. Here is the link where you can check for yourself. You have a GeForce GT 740M. The Product series is GeForce 700M Series (Notebooks). The newest driver in the listing is the 418 which went end of life a long time ago. The supported driver in the repository for your GPU is the 390.
To install the correct Nvidia driver, I recommend the following steps
Remove all nvidia packages by running sudo apt-get purge *nvidia*
Re-install the nvidia-prime-applet (which is actually a Linux Mint file) by running sudo apt-get install nvidia-prime-applet
Reboot the computer.
Install the Nvidia-390 driver by running apt install nvidia-driver-390

Still the Laptop will not boot with the second monitor connected to HDMI
flieger28 wrote: ⤴Thu Jan 26, 2023 4:00 pmThe strange thing is that both monitors (laptop internal) and external work perfect once Mint is running.
With the external monitor plugged into the HDMI the Laptop does not even boot.
This observation make me wonder if there is some type of hardware issue related to powering the ports which might be a factor.
Do you always have the laptop attached to the power mains? If not, is there a difference if you have it plugged in or not plugged in with respect to seeing anything on the screens when booting?
When you boot with the monitor attached, are any lights on the laptop showing? I'm wondering if the problem is just lack of display. Do you have any indication the system might be starting and you just do not have graphics?

Normaly the laptop is attached to power. But i tried today without it plugged in, same behavior.

No the laptop is not booting at all. Because there is no activity regarding the Harddisk. The LED is not on and also you cant hear any HDD activity.
I also checked the Bios and there seems to be no setting regarding GPU / Monitor / HDMI
There is a shortcut to turn the integrated display off. I think it is Fn+F8. But that also only works once mint is loaded, during boot nothing changes.
The data you posted seems to indicate the laptop monitor is turned off. Are you turning it off once you attach the external monitor?
Let's see if there are any messages in the log which might help determine what is happening. After you boot up and then attach the monitor, run the following in a terminal.
After looking at the monitor's user manual, I suggest to try turning off the Auto Power - Off function, which is enabled as the default setting.
If that doesn't help, do you have another monitor you can test? If it doesn't work correctly, then I suggest updating the BIOS, which SMG previously suggested.

Solved
It was the Bios
With the newest Version 2.15 i think, it works
Thanks for all the help
Good to hear that issue is resolved. Please go to your first post in this topic, click the pencil icon, and add [SOLVED] to the beginning of the title so others know you are no longer seeking help on this issue.
