How can I fix it?

The graphics drivers for your operating system are loaded. It appears your system is in Nvidia-Performance mode. How WINE does or does not use the graphics drivers is related to WINE and/or the Sherlock software.

Do you normally have to switch Nvidia modes to run your WINE programs? You could try switching to On-Demand mode and rebooting if that is not your current mode. Otherwise, your question should probably be in in either the Software & Applications forum or Gaming forum depending upon what Sherlock is.

I do not remember if I had a mint running successfully on this laptop. I have tried all 3 options but all fail.
I did. however, find that there is a link in Menu/wine, and if I click on that, it works, so problem solved.

Next question involves solar fire 9 - I found I had to add mfsc40.dl but then got another error - that person says (these are all old) that I have to run 1.4.1 wine so I guess I have to put up Playonlinux to do that, yes? THANKS!

I do not know what solar fire 9 is nor do I use WINE or Playonlinux. I do know WINE has its own user forum if you do not find an answer on the forums here.

It did not run in playonlinux because its library database is old like the winetricks library if you get it from Mint software. It, does however run under VMWARE, win 10 home 21H2.
