Can't connect to X server

Post by NeedBeans » Sun Dec 24, 2006 4:53 pm

Hi,

I have been playing around with some settings (including trying to setup autologin). Unfortunately, I broke something: When starting Bea, I get a graphical screen that says that it can't connect to the X server. It gives me some buttons and options, but I have no idea what to do.

Unfortunately, since I have installed nvidia drivers, the font size in login windows is extremely small, so I can't really read anything in the screen.

Any ideas on how I can reconnect to the X server? Or how I can figure out what the problem is?

Thanks!

hello,

apparently, there will be something wrong with your nvidia driver settings. Just got back to text login.

Login with your username and password. After the prompt type:

sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and press enter.

Now search the line where you find nvidia and change nvidia to nv. Save by pressing ctrl-x and yes to save.

Now type startx at the prompt and You should go back into Gnome. Find out wath You did wrong.

Regards,
Roel
