Dual monitor not working with nVidia

Post by trebor7_1 »

Hi can anyone suggest what to do with my dual monitor set up. Its working fine with no nVidia proprietary drivers installed but if I install them it fails with "unable to load XServer Display Config page:
Failed to query noscanout for screen0.
tried 4 versions on proprietary drives but no luck.

nVidia Quadro FX1800
LCD's set to 1280 x 1024(5:4)

Thanks for any help...

Possibly because you don't have an xorg.conf? Not sure, but easy enough to check. Run the command

Code: Select all

sudo nvidia-xconfig
This will write one for you. Then see if your dual screens work. If they still don't work, run

Code: Select all

sudo nvidia-settings
and see what it says in there under 'Xserver Display Configuration'

Thanks for the reply viking777, I got it sorted tonight. It seems I had to load nVidia Proprietary Drives then select post-release updates version current-updates. That then showed up 2 screens on the nvidia x server setting, but one was disabled. Select TwinView and all seems well now. Tried a couple of reboots and it seems to come up each time.
