ubuntu to mint

is there a way to install mint from ubuntu, and if so is it based on hardy lts since it is supported longer? also is gnome supported?

i suggest better download the mint installer itself so to avoid errors and such.

mint elysa 5 has different flavors from

gnome,kde,fluxbox and xfce. choose what you like

or you might like wait for the incoming linux mint 6 felicia

I will try to answer your questions.

You can not install Mint from Ubuntu, there is no meta package to do so. A fresh install is the ideal solution.

The length of support for Mint 5 is identical to the Ubuntu LTS.

The main edition is gnome based. If you are asking if gnome will be updated in the release the answer is no.

Download the Live CD of your choice and give Mint a try. It will be worth your time!
