SOLVED rafaela xfce 32 bit md5 sum wrong

Post by anatak74 » Wed Nov 25, 2015 12:41 am

I downloaded rafaela xfce 32 bit edition from this link
http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=193
Asia -> South Korea -> KAIST link
but the md5 sum is not correct.
md5 sum on the page is 7059f4473d4e926cd6f000ecaa5899b1
my result
$ md5sum linuxmint-17.1-xfce-32bit.iso
5b2d4eac9c0505ed36c2e50ecb9fcce0 linuxmint-17.1-xfce-32bit.iso

I am going to try a different mirror but this is maybe something that needs to be passed along to the developers / maintainers of the download page.

The md5sum seems correct according to this page > http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=181

There are 2 South Korean mirrors listed on that page. KAIST is one of them.

OBTW - Raffaela is LM17.2 but you somehow D/L the ISO for Rebecca (LM17.1)! The md5sum is correct for Rebecca (LM17.1)
md5sum linuxmint-17.1-xfce-32bit.iso
5b2d4eac9c0505ed36c2e50ecb9fcce0 linuxmint-17.1-xfce-32bit.iso

thank you,
but that is 17.1
I am downloading 17.2

the mirror is probably still serving 17.1
I downloaded from Hawaii and this gives me the correct md5 sum for 17.2

thank you for your help.

edit: noticed that changed your post to reflect what I just wrote.

I just D/Led the ISO from KAIST on the page you linked...

I got this >>>
md5sum linuxmint-17.2-xfce-32bit.iso
7059f4473d4e926cd6f000ecaa5899b1 linuxmint-17.2-xfce-32bit.iso
Is it possible that you have an ISO for LM17.1 Xfce and LM17.2 Xfce in the same folder? Your command line checked the ISO for 17.1 - you could also have 17.2 in the same (~/Downloads) folder!!! Try "md5sum linuxmint-17.2-xfce-32bit.iso" in the same folder!

Data errors on downloading are NOT unheard of on mint iso's or anything else. Do it again. Downloading via torrent is more reliable (and a lot faster) because a checksum is part of the bittorrent protocol.
