So do I have an Ubuntu or LDME Mint?

Post by AmericanPi »

Hey Ya'll!

Will LMDE mint give me serious privacy out of the box?

So I heard Richard Stallman talking about how Ubuntu kinda spy's on you, or takes your information....something about Amazon. heres a link to the interview

I'm not crazy about that and want to know what MINT version I should run to avoid this.

I learned about MINT being Ubuntu (or something like that in this thread: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mim5tTS ... GiSeVlIRwt)

I want to run a real FreeSoftware or OpenSource Linux OS that doesn't take my info, monitor me in any way, or send my info anywhere.
Any Suggestions?

Mint has a Debian edition, but the standard edition is based on Ubuntu. The Amazon related 'spying' is not present in Mint, so you are good to go.

The Amazon thing in Ubuntu is now disabled by default in 16.10. and it is only a problem with the unity deskktop. So it's no problem in Mint.
