Re: When is Mint 18.2 and 18.3 due?
I installed 18.2 Beta Cinnamon a few days ago...
Seems rock solid so far.
[Edit] Changed 18.3 to 18.2

I have the most serious doubts that this statement can be correct, because less than a week ago Clem announced that Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon Beta were available now. - Linux Mint 18.2 “Sonya” Cinnamon – BETA Releasedcrowder wrote:I installed 18.3 Beat Cinnamon a few days ago...
The people of Alderaan have been bravely fighting back the clone warriors sent out by the unscrupulous Sith Lord Palpatine for 771 days now.

Why so modest? You could also "visit" Mint 30 running.

Let's wait till the stable version of 18.2 is released.
Now it's in Beta version.
Now it's in Beta version.

Finally, some sense. There is no such thing as a "rock solid" beta.deepakdeshp wrote:Let's wait till the stable version of 18.2 is released.

Well, he did use the words "seems" and "so far" (Seems rock solid so far, the exact quote.)
I am using the beta also, and for me it's running just as good as 18.1 did. But, I'm not a power user like I assume some forum members here are, so maybe that's why.

The steady state Mint 18.2 is out now.
But the upgrade from 18.1 to 18.2 can't be made as the tool to upgrade isn't available in update manager

Not yet yes, as shared on the blog announcement. Patience is a virtue.deepakdeshp wrote:But the upgrade from 18.1 to 18.2 can't be made as the tool to upgrade isn't available in update manager

You posted the same question in the thread with the announcement via blog. So why don't you read the blog at first?deepakdeshp wrote:The steady state Mint 18.2 is out now.

Preparing the upgrade path at the same time, when the final version gets released would obviously delay the final release. Every task needs its time. And you would want, that the upgrade path gets at least internally tested before making it public, wouldn't you?

Please note that this is just a statement. There is no question asked. It looks like writing anything on the new release isn't a welcome sign. That's fine. I won't write anything about release 18.2.Cosmo. wrote:You posted the same question in the thread with the announcement via blog. Re: When is Mint 18.2 and 18.3 due?
18.2 in. It lists kernels from 4.4, 4.8, and 4.10. Is there a way to remove 4.4 so there are no downloads for 4.4? When is 4.10 useful?
Re: When is Mint 18.2 and 18.3 due?
If your hardware demands it. In other words, if you have the problem, that the existing kernel does not properly support your hardware.Petermint wrote:When is 4.10 useful?
Why remove kernel 4.4? It might happen, that after the live time of 4.8 has ended, you will possibly need it. Kernel 4.4 is the LTS kernel, so removing it from 18.x would be a bad idea.

The title of your original post is a question and in it is another question.deepakdeshp wrote:...

Thank you.

Or did I miss it somehow?
Re: When is Mint 18.2 and 18.3 due?
Hello JerryF, I had to upgrade from kernel 4.4 to 4.8 to fix a major problem back in 18.1 or 18. There is no going back to 4.4.

Hi Petermint, my posting wasn't a reply to yours. Sorry if it came across that way.Petermint wrote:Hello JerryF, I had to upgrade from kernel 4.4 to 4.8 to fix a major problem back in 18.1 or 18. There is no going back to 4.4.
It was for deepakdeshp.
