18.3 Sylvia

Post by Total_Blue »

Hey Guys,

I am seeing messages on other websites saying 18.3 Sylvia has been released, with links to download it, yet there have been no announcement either here in the forums or on the main LM website. Has it actually been released or are the ones being offered elsewhere fake?

It hasn't been released officially yet, but in the past 24 hours genuine iso's have already been seeded to (many of) the usual official mirror servers.

Those iso's are for real, but they might be replaced last-minute if an unexpected critical bug would surface before the official announcement. Such a replacement would be unusual, but it has happened before.

The blog is the authoritative source on developments in Mint and is the source most if not all the news sites get their information from. If it's not mentioned there, 'it didn't happen.'

I've been running the beta version since day 1 and its been solid since then. One update that broke opening system settings was fixed within hours ( I used time shift to revert my system back to before that update, worked like a charm before the fix for the fix came up :D )

I'd just go ahead and install it if you want to now.... but do set up timeshift just in case another 'fix' breaks things again.

It's been quite some time since I've posted. I just stopped by to say how impressed I am with the lightening speed of this upgrade. It felt like I was simply installing a few updates. Very nice indeed.
