Hello everyone,
I understand that one of the advantages of most types of Linux is that it's less commonly found and so less attractive for potential hackers to target such systems. However I read more about Linux market share and saw that it's much more dominant in servers (high value systems that can be attractive to hackers), and is generally less uncommon than it was. Also other Unix-like OSes are much more common as well these days, and could make it a bit easier to target Linux systems. Is it still the case that comparatively little malware exists that targets Linux specifically?
Thanks,
Tenzan

Re: attractiveness of Linux systems as targets for hackers
The vast majority of the internet runs on Linux. A substantial portion of smart phones run on a Linux core. The 500 most powerful supercomputers in the world run Linux.
Linux is more secure by design, not so much obscurity, although Linux on the desktop does benefit from that.
