SUGGESTIONS AND FEEDBACK FOR CASSANDRA 014

Post by blogger »

The following were observed in Cassandra beta 014:

1) A notification about network service still appears on top of the network connection applet on the panel: Network Service Discovery is disabled......
2) Mintinstall: progress bar at bottom is too wide (4 Centimeters on 17" screen, 1024x768 Res.), when the window is maximized.
In general the height of the maximized window is excessive.
3) Details and Progress window sometimes freezes.
4) Downloaded Exaile but it does not open when I click on the applet in the panel. ( New version 0.2.9 is available )

SUGGESTIONS AND QUESTIONS
1) Why not have the Mintinstal in the Mintmenu link to the software portal:
http://www.linuxmint.com/software/
2) How do we remove software installed by Mintinstall?
3) The ZEN Desktop background has the Bianca branding on it. Can the name
of the Mint version be removed so we may use it for Cassandra?

I would like to see xmms as the default player for shoutcast .pls files. Currently MPlayer is what the browser tries to bring up. Xmms is small and light and can be easily skinned.

Could somebody write up a how-to on Metalink downloads?
I mean step by step instructions, a download example and the software needed.

Thank you

Hello,

I am reporting back about my problem I post about my Video resolution problem.

I managed to steal the xorg.conf from a bianca live CD, which displayed my desktop at 1400x 1050, and the copy over to a Cassandra B014 install, and my display works good ... well at least I can get the RES that I want.

Now for some reason, possible the xorg.conf is loading the wrong driver, but now I can not use Beryl..

It is either I have crappy RES at 1024x768 and have beryl, or I can have my RES at 1400x1050 and no Beryl .. Personally I like the high res, and don't care too much about the Beryl ..

I would also like to pass on my ' thanks ' to the whole linux mint community for being awesome at solving problems and making Linux KICK ASS..

-wil.

Sure, where would you like me to put it?

DownThemAll! 1.0 beta, a Firefox extension, supports it. That's probably the easiest way to use it. I had trouble starting one ISO download, so I'll check that out & report a bug if there's a problem.

Thanks for the info Twanj,
It would be great help to all if, after you have tried the program, you posted your tips to : Tips & Tricks / Howtos or the Wilimint.
