The Mint Troubleshooting guide
https://linuxmint-troubleshooting-guide ... where.html
says that to report MInt bugs as opposed to Ubuntu bugs one should go to:
https://github.com/linuxmint/linuxmint
There if you want to report a bug, you can create a GITHUB account and login.
The next steps are not explained but this is what I did:
use the new file button to create a new file to describe your bug.
Add some tags to the new file
Create a pull request.
github seems to be optimized for uploading patches and the like, not for bug reporting.
Did I do it right? Is this what the MINT team want?

Your bug report gains clout when verified by others. Air it out here in the forum--others are anxious to duplicate and confirm.

Re: Bug Reporting to the Mint Team? HOW TO?
In Github language you raise an 'Issue' having checked that you are in the right repository and searched to make sure it's not already there. But as all41 mentions always best to get support on the forum first. There might be a simple (or not so simple) fix, or you might get confirmation from others that it is reproducible which as all41 states will give your report more weight, and make it easier for the dev team to reproduce and thus fix. You may also be advised to report it elsewhere.
Beware there isn't really much point raising issues for minor bugs in Mint versions older than the current (19) unless they can be reproduced in 19. Major bugs (security related or show-stopping crashers) in older supported versions of Mint should be reported.

If you see your bug report closed without comment ... comment of that closed thread and ask Why.
some bugs never get fixed, even significant (to you) ones, without comment.

Re: Bug Reporting to the Mint Team? HOW TO?
Well, I did raise it in the forum, and it was commented on (and confirmed) by at least two other people, and we did come up with a fix.
All of that however does not fix the original Mint Disrtro, which is the objective of filing the bug report.
The OP in this thread was about how to contact the Mint team with a bug report; That is the process I do not understand.
This thread is not about the actual bug pre se.
Why would a bug report be considered a GitHub patch? I don't remember Bugzilla working that way.

Re: Bug Reporting to the Mint Team? HOW TO?
No, you didn't, pull requests are for submitting code changes. Got to your pull request and close it: https://github.com/linuxmint/linuxmint/pull/77
Then go here and submit an issue instead: https://github.com/linuxmint/linuxmint/issues/new
Re: Bug Reporting to the Mint Team? HOW TO? SOLVED
OK. Thanks, Will bookmark that and remember for the future.
