[SOLVED] Why dont my smilies work?

Why dont my smilies etc work? I get text (see above) instead of the friendly smiling faces.

In the BBCode underneath the smilies in my edit window, only flash is OFF.
The rest is turned on.

Any simple solution? I dont have any add ons active. I use LM19 Cinnamon. Smilies used to work before.

Visit ucp.php?i=ucp_prefs&mode=post and make sure "Enable smilies by default" is set to "Yes".

That's why I am still a newbie, I overlooked that one default settting. Thanks for the tip Xenopeek!

Smurphos, that's indeed weird if you can see my smilies while I cant.

We couldn't see the smilies in your post, only when posting anew as a quote of your post. Smilies enabled is the default.

Ok, now I understand. It was one of those little things on this forum that kept me curious, but I didnt dare ask before

I am glad it got solved in this very year of 2018 though. Next year I will be on this forum for 2 years, and maybe I should get out of this newbie forum, but it is such a great place for these little questions that keep bugging me.

As far as smilies are concerned I just learned who Mr Green is. It supposed to mean great happiness and has something to do with some green smoke from a soothing green plant which makes everybody quite mellow and happy

Sorry, but Mr. Yuk is not the same emoticon as Mr. Green. Mr Green is a sign of extreme happiness. Probably originated from people who were smoking pot, weed, marihuana, you know...

My association with Mr. Green is rather Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) also green in the face but not necessarily happy
