Easy upgrading option in mint

Post by amogh123789 » Sat Mar 09, 2019 4:45 am

hi,
Is it planned to support easier direct upgrading between major versions in mint? Currently only the point releases can be upgraded directly, wheareas Ubuntu also supports major version upgrades. Is this feature somewhere on the horizon to be supported later?

I strongly doubt it. You are encouraged to do a clean install by the Team.

Actually in Ubuntu it's recommended doing a major point release upgrade via a clean reinstall just as often (and Mint is Ubuntu based except LMDE). The web upgrade process just isn't reliable enough.
