As a Linux Mint user I am using http://mirror.xeonbd.com/linuxmint.com-repo/ Repository server to regular update my linux machine but recently I can't update my system cause the repository is not there.
Can the panel do something about it. Its on only server I can access with High speed.
http://mirror.xeonbd.com/linuxmint.com-repo/ Bangladesh repository server has been removed??

Re: http://mirror.xeonbd.com/linuxmint.com-repo/ Bangladesh repository server has been removed??
Yes I have the same issue with a local mirror/Repository here. I had to reset the software mirror/Repository back to Linux Mint’s default. I think these Mint software mirrors/Repository may be gone for good. My advice is to reset the software mirror back to Linux Mint’s default.

I've just been using the default mirror for years, it's actually a myth that the closest mirrror is fastest. And the main mirror is going to have all the software there.

Then my computer apparently believes that myth, it's a lot faster for me to use a local mirror. Actually.
All mirrors should by definition have all the same software, otherwise they're not mirrors.
If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!

That depends on the server speed. The mirror here was twice as fast as the default, And it was a real scorcher that was run by a university here. It was only about 100 miles from my home.
I have found most mirrors are about a day or two behind the default when it comes to updates. I guess some poorly maintained mirrors might be lacking in the software/ updates department, but I never really run into that myself.

I think I was emailed about this last month, or I replied on another topic about the same. Can't find it now but in any case I had noted XeonBD no longer host a Linux Mint mirror and we'll remove it from the mirrors list shortly. You can see here which OSes they provide a mirror for: http://mirror.xeonbd.com/. It's not under our control who provides a mirror for Linux Mint. You may try reaching out to the XeonBD team.

Now Linux Mint has become quite unusable. Earlier I used to get 100MBPS update speed. Now I get 2-3MBPS update speed.
Moreover, stack.imgur.com is also blocked in Bangladesh. So, can not see images in stackoverflow. So, they have made it very hard for developers too.

Re: http://mirror.xeonbd.com/linuxmint.com-repo/ Bangladesh repository server has been removed??
That's a big drop in speed. As I wrote above, the mirrors are not under Linux Mint's control. You could try asking XeonBD mirror team if they will consider hosting a Linux Mint mirror again.
You should be able to use XeonBD as the base mirror (for updates from the Ubuntu package base). If Software Sources doesn't let you select it you can do this by hand. I'm assuming Linux Mint 20.3 but you should be able to do the same on other Linux Mint versions. Run this command to edit the official repositories configuration:
xed admin:///etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list
By default (after you click "Restore to default settings" in Software Sources) this is in it:
Code: Select all
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com una main upstream import backport #id:linuxmint_main
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-backports main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ focal-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/ focal partner
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
(3 times) and the URL http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/
(1 time) in above each with the URL http://mirror.xeonbd.com/ubuntu-archive/
.For the main mirror (the URL
http://packages.linuxmint.com
in above) you could hand pick a Linux Mint mirror relatively close to you, if Software Sources doesn't give you the right options. Look under Repository mirrors on this page: https://linuxmint.com/mirrors.php. My knowledge of geography is spotty but I assume mirrors from countries like China, India and Thailand might be up for consideration.I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
