Any business owner willing to help me out?

Post by condowax » Wed Mar 10, 2010 7:07 pm

I'm writing an essay for a school project on open-source software as an alternative to proprietary software in businesses, so I was wondering if any business owner that has implemented open-source software in their business or someone that is experienced in this subject would be willing to spare me some time to answer a few questions by email or pm.

I have seen a couple of people mentioning running their business on Linux. Hopefully one of these members will take a couple of minutes to help you out. This is an interesting topic by the way and I hope you do well on your project. :)

Someone please help out condowax with this project if you can.

Apart from direct contact, there are also studies available, and specific OSS vendors that have business success stories to tell

The telecoms business, for example is heavily invested in Open Source software, as is Google

Thanks a lot for these sources they have been really helpful! Now I just hope that someone volunteers to be interviewed because I do need as a requirement a primary source of investigation.

OK ... I'll do it.

I am a business owner.
A Registered Architect, in the U.S., that uses only Linux/Open Source.

It's not a retail business and I don't have any employees. But, I do have a partner in my work.

Send me a PM, and we'll work out the details.

vrkalak did you get my pm?

Anyone else willing to help out? It would be useful to have several points of view on the subject.
