I think Linux Mint is a good distro, but:

I don't like that you have removed Gimp, Games, Rhythmbox and OpenOffice.org 2.4 with the locale language packs.

I also Don't like that you have added the KDE app Amarok. It fill with KDE libs. And if you inkclude Rhythmbox insted you've space to more Gnome apps.

Gnome uses Gnome apps and KDE uses KDE apps.

The first I do when I've installed Linux Mint is to do install the ubuntu-desktop-package.

I will like if where is four workspaces insted of two.

We've been here before chaps, I myself asked for Amarok to be removed in favour of Exaile, but was out voted. I prefer Xmms as it is low resource.

What's wrong with Rhythmbox? If you don't wan't to include Rhythmbox, I think that Banshee is the best alternative to Rhythmbox.

You can add as many workspaces as you wish with just a few mouse clicks

This is why I've always believed that the OS should focus on the OS. Leave the choice up to the people to install what they want/need. Over the last few years I see distros of Linux totally BLOAT up with everything under the sun. First thing I do when I install a distro is remove the CRAP I will NEVER use. You know crap like Laptop tools/utilities when it's on a Workstation.

So what does all this BLOAT do? Well other than bogging down the overall performance you need to keep up with at least the security patches for them. I also roll my own kernel and remove some of the CRAP there also, you know things like ATM, FIDI, Token Ring, HAM Radio, Appletalk, etc. etc. etc. That and minor tuning like setting processor type and I see a world of difference. Not to mention that I removed a large chunk of potential security threats. Hell back when I used to use SuSE, just removing ISDN it would start blowing up the distro, but then again they're an RPM based distro..... I loath RPM's

So in summary a Distro should focus on

1) Stability
2) Nice polished BASE environment
3) Nice polished package manager

MOST important is package management, let the user install what they want/need, don't follow M$, Novell and bloat everything. Focus on the core and let the user decide.
