Kendall, I didn't talk about business users. Although even for them, I don't guess there are "already showing productivity gains as a result" and even if it was the case, this would be a new proof we are on a wrong, a quite wrong, way...

The end is in sight... All of this is quite sad... :-(

In my line of work we actually do that from time to time. When serving notice on someone, accept no substitute!

Something to be aware of if you have a Google+ account or are thinking of getting one:

If Google wants us to trust it with our online lives it needs to do a lot better than this: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/bt5akp

Are you sure you want to use a one sided unsubstantiated rant as a support for your position?

Been with google+ since June 30th or so, but recently when trying to open Hangout in chromium-browser, all I get is a blank page now, if I try it in Firefox it works but not chromium, I removed Chromium and reinstalled it and even removed .config/chromium directory and still no go. It used to work, drives me mad.

A rant? Hmm no. Unsubstantiated? Oh, really? And to 'support' my position? err, I support nothing. I give just some information, explanations, examples etc about Google, among other... :-)

Here are others:

Four Things Google Plus Could Do To Fix Google Plus Oh, look, so the guy of the 'rant', as you said, wasn't the only sane person to voluntarily delete his G+ account? Thanks for the tip, ZDNet!

I’ve been suspended from Google+ Google wants your photo and gov't issued ID name (legal name) And: "You appear to have edited your name, so we blocked it again." -- err, no I didn't. Oh google, keep being awesome.

BWAHAHAHA Google shut down William Shatner's account

One reason to "love" Google Docs. Sporadically. In the arse.

About Google: How Google Could Murder Your Digital Identity Google's No. 1 problem isn't Apple, Microsoft, or the U.S. Government -- it remains Google itself.

Not really related but for pleasure: Google Docs bumps maximum file size to 10GB NUTS!

As someone said: "I'm telling people since ages that Google is their enemy, not their friend. Why are people so eager to trust Google?"

Now, have fun with Google, Google +, Google Docs...
As long as you're connected to the Internet, there's no such thing as freedom. Only dead people are free.

Having read the follow up to that post I think I can safely give the following advice:

If you find an "artistic image" which you believe should be classed as child pornography don't upload it to your Picasawebs account to "raise awareness of the issue" or Google might ban you for uploading child pornography.

Yes Google could probably do better in notifying users about any issues, implement a better system for appealing/fixing the problem and may have been a bit overzealous in their removal of accounts but in this case the fault is mainly with the user IMO.

I have nothing against Thomas Monopoly and am certainly not going to hold what he did / uploaded against him. However, I think that Google probably took the only sensible route in this case. Maybe they could have attempted to talk to him sooner, although legally that may have been impossible. In the (unfortunately rather sad) world in which we live, the slightest indication of smoke normally leads to the calling out of the entire Fire Brigade, even if there is no visible fire.
Certainly I don;t think that anybody can possibly use this case as an argument again Google+, Google, or on-line storage, social-networking etc in general.

dawgdoc wrote:...I started a LMUsers circle.
I may have caused a bit of confusion. My creation of a LMUsers circle will not be apparent in anyone elses page. It is not like a Usenet group, BBS, IRC channel, or mailing list. When I said I created a LMUsers circle, this applies only to the people in my circles. I have my LM contacts in a separate circle I created in my account. Just like I put my brother and cousin into the family circle, I put my LM contacts into the LMUsers circle rather than put all of you into friends, acquaintances, or following. BTW, my LMUsers is my largest circle. :D

If I am comprehending correctly, my LM contacts will see anything I post to the LMUsers circle, all circles, extended circles, or public. When I post something you can tell if I set it as Public, extended circles or limited. When it is posted as limited I am not sure if you can see everyone it is shared with or those just in circles in common with your. From the G+ help pages I did learn that my contacts can not see the name of the circle I place them in. So any annoying work associates do not see that they are in my pests circle instead of my bff circle.

Anyone I place in the circles as a G+ contact will see the posts in their G+ stream. If I have you entered in as an email address instead of connected to you G+ profile, you will see the posts only as an email. (Of course, all G+ contacts will also see a post as an email as well as in the stream if your notifications are set accordingly.)
