Hello, pcfan5.

rkhunter is available in the default Ubuntu software repositories. So you should be able to locate it in Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager, whichever of the two you prefer.

Best regards,
Karl

Thank you for your reply, I wasn't able to find it before in Software Manager. I will check on Synaptic and let you know.

Why do you think you need rkhunter in the first place? For desktop Linux, it's snake oil:

Thank you for this link. Aswering your question: I am learning about how it isn't necesary to have antivirus in linux (have read several post of this forum) however I am still wondering about spyware (a lot of time ago someone suggested me running "linyx" or "linys" I don't remember the name quite well.

All in all, I know antivirus aren't necesary, however I don't know about anti spyware or antimalware ( I am still learning due to the fact I don't know if malware or spyware affects linux) .

This questions started some days ago when a friend brought me her computer to install there W10 and she told me it has viruses...so I run a Avast Antivirus Rescue Disk from a USB , on booting , but I was a bit unsure if my USB got infected when in a failured booting the system boot from HDD and entered the OS (W10, a previous instalation). After that I checked my USB with ClamAV TK and everything seemed to be fine...

Anyway the questions stated before grew in my mind and I started to read about Rkhunter.

I am a home user and my linux firewall is on as well as my router firewall. I don't think I use external repositories... Though I am not sure about this.

Sorry If I am mixing topics or concepts here.
