Re: Deleting Linux Mint 19.3 Operating System
The windows installer can probably do it, but if you want to start with an empty disk, boot the Mint installer (DVD or USB) and delete all the partitions and/or make a new partition table.zimbo14959 wrote: ⤴Mon Oct 18, 2021 1:31 pm I wish to remove the Linux Mint 19.3 Operating System from my pc to enable me to install Window OS.

How do I do that? Delete all the partitions and/or make a new partition table. I have the Mint Installer on USB.

Boot the USB like you were going to install Mint, but rather than installing anything, start the USB Mint session and findzimbo14959 wrote: ⤴Tue Oct 19, 2021 1:46 pm How do I do that? Delete all the partitions and/or make a new partition table. I have the Mint Installer on USB.
gparted
in the menus (probably under system
or similar) or open a terminal and just enter
Code: Select all
gparted
-- Select a "device" (disk) hidden in the upper-right corner of the GUI.
-- It won't do the operations you told it to do until you hit the "Apply all operations" button

Re: Deleting Linux Mint 19.3 Operating System
Okay. Thanks.
I typed gparted and was asked to:
install package gparted
install package drobo-utils
install package partition manager
Which one do I install? And what will happen when I install any of those packages?

Re: Deleting Linux Mint 19.3 Operating System
you can also do the same thing from the Windows Installer.
just Boot into the Windows Installation Media,
and from it's installation screen, you can select the existing partitions,
- in order for them all to be Deleted.
you can then simply continue with the Windows installation.
and the Windows Installer will re-create it's partitions, as required,
in order to copy it's system files, and then then re-boot an couple of times, as well.

Re: Deleting Linux Mint 19.3 Operating System
Perhaps you did not live boot the USB like you you would do if you were going to install Mint? We think gparted is already in the live boot, so no need to install.zimbo14959 wrote: ⤴Thu Oct 21, 2021 10:16 am Okay. Thanks.

Mikeflan is right. The Linux Mint live & installation systems come with gparted pre-installed. No need to install it. It is already there.

Re: Deleting Linux Mint 19.3 Operating System
So I can delete Linux partitions via the windows installation disc? And then just continue installing windows? Yes?
Re: Deleting Linux Mint 19.3 Operating System
YES
then simply click on next, to continue with the Windows Installation.
- - it will Auto-create it's own partitions, as needed.
